Rio Lajas

Dear Guests!

The green-season has their own beauty and specialy the rivers bring a lot of fresh water and fun to explore. I have the pleasure to live by the Rio Lajas in Cabuya and would like to share this magical place with you. 

The little bus that runs between Cabuya and Montezuma can take you to the bridge of the river. Before the bridge, on the left site, a small walkway will bring you to the beach. Between the bridge and the beach you will find small waterfalls and pools, they form perfect natural whirl-pools. The surrounding is very wooded and you can observe birds in all sizes and colors. It´s really a piece of paradise.

In the dry-season the river turns to be a great hiking trail, after a 1 and 1/2 hours hike river-up you will come to a bigger waterfall and on your way you will see a lot of wild-live away from any touristy roads.

Please come and enjoy one of the our secret places on the south-tip of Peninsula Nicoya!

Thursday night BBQ! - ¡Asado de los jueves a la noche!

Every Thursday night at HOTEL LUNA LLENA, you can enjoy a delicious Argentinian Style BBQ, prepared by our 2 private chefs.

The menu includes diferent local cuts of meat with a side of "Criolla Salad", homemade bread and a glass of wine. All this in our marvelous deck, with a magnificient view and in an splendid atmosphere.

We also offer a vegetarian option with zucchinis and eggplants "a la papillón".

The cost of the menu is $15. Vegetarian option $12. Children under 10 $10.

2012 Film Festivals in Montezuma.

Once a year, since 2007, Montezuma hosts the "Costa Rica International  Film Festival".  During 5 days, this event allows to locals and tourists enjoy the fantastic work of directors all over the world.

But this year, this is going to be much bigger! The festival organizers have added 2 more:  “Costa Rica International Festival of Terror” (during Halloween :) ) and “Costa Rica International Documentary  Film Festival”

Seriously…Isn´t it great!!  You will be able to enjoy a lot of films and shorts, surrounded by the jungle, the ocean, and the coolest people in the world!

If you have been in Montezuma, you know that it´s going to be awesome!… But if you did not come to visit us yet… do not miss this opportunity!!

Yo invente un árbol grande,

mas grande que un hombre,

mas grande que una casa,

mas grande que una última esperanza.

Me quede con él años y años

bajo su sombra

esperando que me hablara.

Le cantaba canciones,

lo abrazaba,

le rascaba su rugosa corteza

entretejida de helechos,

mi risa reventaba flores en sus ramas,

y a cada gesto mío le crecían hojas,

le brotaban frutas…

Era mío como nunca nada ha sido mío,

pero no me hablaba.

Yo vivi pendiente de sus ruidos,

oyendo su suave aleteo de mariposa,

su crujido de animal de la selva

y  soñaba como un hermoso canto,

Pero no me hablaba.

Noches enteras llore a su pies,

apretujada entre sus raíces,

sintiendo sus brazos sobre mí,

viéndolo erguido sobre mí,

sabiendo que me estaba pensando,

pero no me hablaba…

Aprendí a cantar como pájaro,

encenderme como luciérnaga,

a  relinchar como caballo.

A veces me enfurecía y hacia que se le cayeran todas las hojas,

lo dejaba desnudo y avergonzado

ante los guanacastes,

esperando que-tal vez-entendería a las malas,

como algunos hombres,

pero nada.

Aprendí  tantas cosas para poder hablarle,

me desnude de tantas otras necesidades,

que olvidé hasta como me llamaba,

olvidé de donde venia,

olvidé a que especie de animal pertenecía

y quede muda y siempre verde

-esperanzada-

entre sus ramas.

Dear  Guests and Friends! 

I would like to thank you all for staying with us in this long beautiful Summer-Season. It was like always a pleasure to meet you and share some days of your vacations with you. We got so much good reviews and feed-back and I really want to give this back to you and tell you, that we use to get the nicest Guests all the time! Sometimes I miss traveling a bit, but to run the Luna Lena Hotel is like a Journey too, because it means to welcome all this interesting Travelers from all over the Planet. I am very grateful for this place and the People who work here or come for visits.

Now in May it finally started to rain a lot. It is an explosion of greens, shrouds, wild-life and insects everywhere. It is a very special time of the year, after the long drown, every little living cell is coming back to growing and flourishing. It is one of my favorite months in Costa Rica. 

The tourism slowed down, everybody is relaxed and laid back and have time for a chat.

Please don’t think now that it is raining all the time! It is not! There are many sunny hours everyday to enjoy the beaches and waterfalls…
